Business English

What is meant by Business English?

The language of business is very different from social, tourist or general English which focuses on practical situations like ordering meals in restaurants, asking for directions, booking train tickets, talking about our family or interests etc. In a business situation we need to speak about our work, describe processes, explain cause and effect, solve problems, and present ideas. It is these skills, and the language relating to the specific business the learners work in, that are the focus of business courses.
